Annual report 2020

A word from our President

Dear friends,

2020 was an interesting year, to say the least. However, we remain focused on our mission and encouraged by the sheer number of adults and children that discovered cycling during the pandemic. Despite the challenges of operating a nonprofit during a pandemic, we were still able to provide bikes to our community and expect the demand for bicycles to continue to grow. With most of this year’s events and group rides cancelled, it felt like an uphill battle to carry out our mission and we continue to discuss ways to raise funds to acquire a new physical space for the workshop.

As always, our member-volunteers came together and found a way. Socially distanced workshops and contactless deliveries allowed us to keep bikes moving out the door. This year 131 bikes were refurbished and delivered to their new owner. Bringing our total to 950 since 2015.

2020 was all about the community and bringing our local organizations together. We are disappointed that we were not able to hold the Bel Air Cyclocross Festival, but our community came together to support the event and the vast majority of pre-registered racers donated their entry fee to support our nonprofit programs. This year would not have been possible without our amazing sponsors, community partners, and continued involvement of our members and volunteers. Our community is the reason we continue to grow and get bikes into the hands of those that need them most. Thank you for making 2020 the best we could. Looking forward to 2021!

Nick Johnson
